Honorine is the proprietor of Sueno Pilates in San Francisco. She found Pilates by wandering into a group Pilates class at her local gym and was immediately hooked when her chronic knee pain was alleviated. Wanting to learn more she impulsively signed up for an ITT mat certification course at A Body of Work in the presidio. The apparatus certification followed shortly after but not before becoming employed at her first studio.
The ITT training was an amazing, anatomy based, west coast education and her first studio was much more focused on the Classical repertoire. This combination of early education has allowed Honorine to have a well rounded foundation in Pilates with respect for the classical work as well as the knowledge and flexibility to work with many different populations.
Honorine has continued to feed her voracious thirst for knowledge through many avenues. She has attended workshops with Pilates greats such as Elizabeth Larkam, the Alpers sisters and Madeline Black. She has also repeatedly sought out amazing movement instructors such as Irene Dowd and Jean-Claude West. Her education went on to include specialization courses in scoliosis with Suzanne Martin as well as pelvic floor disfunction with physical therapist Diane Lee. In order to learn from practitioners in other fields of health and wellness Honorine sought out volunteering at physical therapy offices as well as Postureworks Chiropractic. The time at Postureworks led to a job there as the Rehab Exercise Specialist for three years. It was an invaluable experience which gave her a deep knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, disfunction and rehab techniques.
Sessions with Honorine are tailored to the individual's needs from rehabilitating recent injury to full body, challenging workouts. As she learns, new ideas are constantly incorporated into her teaching so expect a steady stream of new ideas to challenge how you think about and work in your body.
